About the Owner
Well, while growing up, on a average day, the amount of dogs I had usually outnumbered our (large) family. I was one of those girls who grew up watching dog shows on television, like Westminster and Eukanuba. I entertained the idea of doing agility with my Yorkshire Terrier when I was younger, but only had so much time for hobbies and my interest in Japanese culture and internet networking was more readily available. The breeds of my childhood were classic breeds like Beagles, Labradors, and Yorkshire Terriers, and when I moved out I ventured into more exciting breeds like Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, and a oddball Shiba Inu.
Of course the joy I get from dogs did not fad with age, and while bumbling around through Professional Photography and Graphic Designer career choices, I actually became a Dog Groomer specializing in hand scissoring and double coat care. Since 2010 I have spent most of my week sprucing up multiple canines a day for their owners in Veterinary Hospitals. It wasn't until my early 20s that I was presented the opportunity to learn about AKC Conformation from a co-worker/friend in 2010, Debra Davis @ Arden Kennels, with her Smooth Fox Terriers and Shiba Inus.

About Cadence Hall
Cadence is the measured balance, rhythmic flow, or beat of movement in horses. When the horse moves you can count four distinct hoof beats which produce a cadence of equal rhythm. Since Dalmatians, our original breed, are strongly associated with horses, and are perceived as a movement and endurance breed, we believe this to be a perfect name for our kennel.
Cadence Hall was founded in 2012, when I purchased my first Dalmatian, Ramsay, from Sue MacMillan @ Paisley Dalmatians. Over the years of owning many breeds, training, and grooming many more in a short amount of time, I learned what I liked in a dog. At first, I chose this breed because it was something I could take trail riding with my horses and I appreciated the basic guarding tendencies. I also wanted to step away from my herding breeds for something equally intelligent, but more independent. A good size, they are neither too large nor too small. This breed is also the picture of a utility dog, having had many jobs throughout the breed history. Finally, the bonus on top is that they're flashy with little coat care, and I do enjoy a dog that attracts the public's eye.
We added Toy Manchester Terriers to our roster in 2018. We acquired Luci from Sabra Peterson @ Raintree to be a companion, but after learning about her small show record we decided to dabble! I had been looking for a small breed, but wanted none of the hair maintenance that most toy breeds require at the time. They are 'terrier lite' in that they're expected to be amicable to people and other dogs, but are still lively and spirited enough to be excellent vermin hunters. I photographed this breed for a couple of years prior to Luci and just love how ready they are for anything. This is a rarer breed, so I don't show them as much, and we rely on the breed community much more to help continue our breeding program. At this time (Spring 2024) I have had to step away from this breed due to other obligations.
In late 2022, I lay awake in bed at some abnormal early morning hour. I was probably going through a 'bout of depression and was looking for a different kind of dog that neither my Dalmatian nor Toy Manchester could be. Thankfully, due to my career, I automatically knew what kind of dog I needed and it could meet my needs without fail. I wanted sweet and silly, with an unflappable happy outlook - looking like a puppy it's entire life wasn't harmful either. I put a request in with a local breeder Wednesday, and by next Monday I had my first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was meant to be a companion, but as I got to know her more we ventured into a whole new side quest together.
Here at Cadence Hall, our first goal is to create happy, healthy, functional dogs for the everyday family life. Our dogs are pets first, my entire lifestyle is based around their needs. While Conformation is our first focus, we do like to add titles on both ends when we can. Lure Coursing and Barn Hunt is something we try to do, and as we adventure further into the dog world I imagine we'll be trying out Road Trials as these become more available. We also take socializing very seriously, and strive to have well behaved canine citizens when we are out in public.
